Why is my water bill so high?

If you are not using water for outdoor purposes in the summer, you may have leaks. Common leaks to look for are toilets, sinks, bathtubs, hot water tanks, and water heating systems. The most common of these are toilet leaks, and are not always audible or seen. You can check your toilets for leaks by obtaining toilet dye (available at the Village Hall) or food coloring and putting it in the tank(s) of the toilet(s). After letting the color in the tank sit for about half an hour, check the bowl of the toilet. If the color has seeped into the bowl, the toilet is leaking. This leak test should be performed more than once if you are getting a negative result, as a toilet may be leaking at different times of the day.

Am I assessed penalties if I don't pay my utility bill on time?

Yes, a 10% late fee is added to all utility bills not received by the 10th of each month. A shutoff fee of $50 is assessed on the 21st of each month if you have not paid your utility bill.

Does the village have a Notary?

Yes, there are staff members who are notaries and available to assist you during regular business hours.
